THE Okehampton Community Archive held an open morning at Fairplace Church on Friday July 15, celebrating the history of the local churches.

The event tied in with All Saints Church's celebrations of the 750th anniversary of the church's consecration.

The exhibition offered an insight into Okehampton's churches and their past, as well as looking at the history of religion in the town and how it has shaped the area.

The OCA was formed in 2009 with the aim of recording a 'living history' of personal memories, photographs and documents from the people of Okehampton. It holds several exhibitions and coffee mornings throughout the year.

The archive centre on Mill Road is open two days a week for visitors to look at photographs, documents and information.
