A LOVING home is being sought for a beautiful husky cross Inuit who is currently living with Dartmoor View Dog Rescue.

The rescue charity, based near Okehampton, has been home to Kenzie, who is approaching his fourth birthday, for the last few months. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated up to date.

Kenzie, pictured right, needs a special home living with an owner who understands the northern breeds and Kenzie's specific needs.

Mandy Edwin from the rescue said: 'In the right hands Kenzie has the potential to be a fantastic companion. He needs time and patience to train him and show him the way in life.

'His background has resulted in him having separation anxiety and he has to be crated when left alone, so someone who is at work all day would not be suitable. Kenzie is good with other dogs and older children. He is very energetic and loves to play, so will need plenty of exercise and stimulation.

'He has the ability to jump high so will need a fully enclosed, safe garden in which to play. Kenzie enjoys tasty treats, which will be helpful with his training. Kenzie walks well on the lead and is confident in busy environments.'

Kenzie proved his confidence in such busy environments during a visit to a recent Hatherleigh Sunday market to promote the rescue. The dog rescue is a non-profit organisation with the sole aim of re-homing unwanted and abandoned dogs throughout the South West.

They have a strict non-destruct policy, never putting a dog to sleep unless under veterinary advice.
