Okehampton mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies will hold the annual civic parade this Sunday (June 17) through the streets of the town.
At 10am the parade will assemble in Fore Street outside the town hall, with the procession moving to Fairplace Church, led by Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band.
On arriving at the church, there will be a civic service at 10.30am taken by the Rev Philip Wagstaff, Methodist superintendent minister. Prayers will be led by mayor's chaplain the Rev Simon Bourne, with a sermon given by the Rev David Waters, of the New Life Church.
Bible readings will be given by deputy mayor Cllr Paul Vachon and a representative from the Okehampton Duke of Edinburgh Award.
After the close of the service at 11.30am, the parade will march back to the town hall.
As always, the parade is a great opportunity for the people of Okehampton to line the streets and show their support for many of the town's organisations and voluntary groups, as well as enjoy the music of the town band.
