EASTCOTT Vineyard near Northlew will open its gates to the public for Open Farm Sunday on Sunday June 1.

Richard and Hilary Waller from Eastcott Vineyard are inviting everyone to come and see what happens beyond the farm gate. Richard said: 'Come and enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard and hear how the vines are managed. Then move into the on-site winery to learn how both still and sparkling wine are made. You will also be able to taste our latest wines, which is good fun, whatever the weather.

'Overall this is an ideal way to enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside. Why not make a day of it and take a picnic to enjoy while you are here?'

Eastcott Vineyard will be open from 10.30am until 5pm with a guided tour at 2.30pm. Directions http://www.eastcottvineyard.co.uk">www.eastcottvineyard.co.uk or 01837 811012.

Caroline Drummond, chief executive of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), organiser of Open Farm Sunday said: 'This is a day out with a real difference! Whatever you do at an Open Farm Sunday event, it is a great chance to take in some stunning scenery and enjoy the country air. You will really get to know how your food is produced and maybe even taste some, all whilst finding out how the countryside around you is cared for.'

This will be the fifth Open Farm Sunday and more than 450 farms across the country are expected to open.
