THE village of Spreyton will hold its first local produce and craft market next month.
Each month the market will raise money for a different local organisation or charity.
There will be more than 20 stalls selling fresh food from some of the best local producers, including Ruby Devon beef, Lovaton Farm free range lamb, pork, bacon and sausages, Higher Fingle Farm organic free range poultry and Teign Bakery, who will be selling a selection of breads and pastries.
There will also be dairy produce, free range eggs, fresh fish and local farm vegetables, as well as homemade cakes, preserves, pickles, pasties, fudge and much more.
Organiser of the market, Maddie Mullen, said: 'The market will be a fantastic social event.
'It will be somewhere for people to get together once a month and have a bacon roll, a chat and a nice time.
'It will open people up to the things that Spreyton has to offer —we have a great pub and a new shop on the way and the market is a nice thing to have in between.'
Throughout the year seasonal produce will become available including local grown fruit, flowers and honey.
As well as the great food on offer there will be plants for sale and a selection of quality handmade crafts ranging from jewellery, cards, stationery, soaps and lots more.
Monkokehampton Pottery recently re-located to Spreyton and will also be exhibiting its range of tableware and decorative pieces.
Refreshments will be available, including teas, coffee, free range bacon rolls and homemade cakes.
There will be a prize draw of a hamper containing a selection of goodies from the market.
The market also hopes to raise the profile of the Spreyton village community shop, which will stock local produce along with groceries and household items.
All proceeds from the first market will go towards the development of Spreyton Primary School's new outdoor space.
The local produce and craft market will be held on Saturday, March 6 between 10am and noon in Spreyton Village Hall.
The market will be held on the first Saturday of every month. For more information on the market phone Maddie on 01647 231142.
