THE Rev Stephen Cook will be the guest speaker at April's mayoral breakfast.

Mr Cook is the Anglican vicar of Okehampton and is the team rector of the Northmoor Team Ministry, which covers 13 parishes around the town.

Stephen was a police officer before being ordained and has worked in Hereford, Keynsham and Bristol before coming to Okehampton 12 years ago. Until recently he was chair of Christians Together in Okehampton, the umbrella body for all the churches in the town.

Rev Cook will be talking about the network of local churches, the challenges and opportunities they are experiencing and their vision for working with other organisations for the welfare of the town.

The breakfast will be held on Wednesday, April 2 in the Charter Hall. It will start at 8am and run for an hour, costing £7 per person. Payment must be made by tomorrow (Friday) for those wishing to attend, to be made to Okehampton Town Hall in cash or a cheque payable to 'Okehampton Town Council – Mayor's Account'. Any small profits made from mayoral breakfasts will be used to help support the mayor's chosen charities, Get Changed Theatre Company and Tor Support Services.
