OKEHAMPTON resident and fundraiser Michael Bendix is getting back on his bike for another mammoth cycle challenge.
Along with his son-in-law, Michael will cycle 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The duo are hoping to raise over £3,000 by cycling through some of the most stunning countryside in Britain.
Michael said: 'I decided to take on the Land's End to John O'Groats cycle challenge for Mamillan Cancer Support because they have helped members of my family through some difficult times in the past.
'It will be a tough ride but I am hoping that by raising funds for Mamillan Cancer Support more support can be provided for people with terminal cancer, their families and carers.'

Wartime letters inspire Okehampton writer's novelMichael and Warren will be cycling completely unsupported on their incredibly tough challenge and both have put in an awful lot of training throughout this past winter, regardless of rain and floods. It will be the second time Michael has taken on the challenge, having completed a similar challenge in 2012 for the Samaritans Exeter and Mid Devon branch.
Michael said: 'We're actually setting off on my 70th birthday. I am putting myself through my paces to train for this ride as I can't let myself be outdone by my son-in-law, even if he is 20 years younger than me.'
