A HUGE painting of the Okehampton area of Dartmoor is currently on display in one of the town's galleries.
Dartmoor artist Bob Tucker painted the canvas of West Mill Tor and Yes Tor, which measures six feet by four feet.
Bob explained the thinking behind the giant artwork: 'The idea behind such a large picture is that the viewer feels immersed in the moorland environment, especially when standing in close proximity.
'It could be that the painting needs a large room in which to be hung, but, on the other hand, in a more modest sized room the picture would dominate the space and that effect could be appealing.'
He started the painting in the autumn of 2011 and has been working on it for several months, allowing layers of paint to dry.
The painting is now on display in Tucker's Gallery on West Street, open 10am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday.
