Chagford 0
Cullompton Rangers 3
TWO Cullompton goals in the first five minutes not only stunned the home fans but effectively killed off the game.
For the first, Parker spotted Luscombe off his line and exquisitely chipped the home 'keeper from distance.
Chagford barely had time to draw breath before the ball was crossed from the goal-line for Cottrell to nod home the second goal. From there, the hosts faced an uphill climb but set to the task determinedly and looked good going forward.
There was still an element of shakiness at the back from the Moormen, skipper Tim Williams having to drive his fellow defenders in order to gain control. Much of Chagfords' forward play originated on their right flank but, at times, they failed to notice the acres of space Botham and Mortimer had on the other side. All too often such chances as were created failed to find the target and frustration set in.
The second half followed a similar pattern, Rangers taking the early initiative but without the cutting edge this time. Again Chagford clawed their way back although opportunities were few and far between. Wills came on for de Cruz and immediately set about developing a better partnership with Davis, creativeness again coming on that right side. When Kinsey pulled up with a knock, Chagford found themselves even lighter going forward despite the best efforts of Sanders and Mortimer. When Cottrell bagged his second and Rangers' third late on it was game over, an earlier defeat avenged.
This week Chagford are at home to Barnstaple Town; Chagford Reserves are away to Axmouth United. Both matches kick-off at 3pm.
