I TOO noticed from the national press that Mel Stride had made an inordinate expenses claim  in respect of energy for a second home, it being more that twice the average dual fuel bill for a normal constituent (£1,500).

Eileen Drew (letters, November 14) did not mention that our MP submitted the seventh highest claim amongst MPs for this perk, the top claim being in excess of £5,000 for an MP who was heating his out houses and stables.

I have emailed Mr Stride and requested an explanation for his claim but to date have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply.
