A CHARITY ball enjoyed by more than 120 people in December raised an astounding £5,845.36 for a local leukaemia fund.
The charity ball night, held at Okehampton Rugby Club on December 5, was organised by six local women to raise funds for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
Those attending the ball enjoyed a silent auction, prize draw and a three-course meal.
Debbie Vinnicombe, one of the event organisers, said: 'The ball was organised in memory of a very dear friend of mine who passed away in October 2009, Maggie Cross.
'She loved music and loved to dance, so we thought this was a fitting event.
'The evening was an amazing success, and I just want to thank everyone who helped and who turned out, and all the local people and businesses that donated some fantastic prizes.
'Without such incredible support this evening would not have been such an outstanding success.'
The cheque was donated to Sarah Shaw from the Exeter Leukaemia Fund on January 20.
