A NEW president for Okehampton Rotary Club was elected and passed over the office of presidency last week.

The role was given to Exbourne resident Mike Macklin, who expressed thanks to previous president Allenton Fisher and said he hoped to carry on the club's charity work.

He said: 'Allenton's enthusiasm and energy kept Rotary buzzing.

'Last year we raised and gave away over £26,000 to charity, the majority of that being spent locally.

'I am looking forward to my year as club president and we have a full and exciting programme to complete.'

Also elected was president-elect Andy Ewen and second vice-president, Sarah Watts.
