THE Devon County Festival of Remembrance will be staged at a new venue this year.

The festival, which will be held on Remembrance Day itself, will feature the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Lympstone and the D-Day Girls, singing songs of the 1940s.

In addition to the traditional muster of Royal British Legion standards and service associations, particular attention will be paid to the cadet movement, whose 150th anniversary will be the theme of this year's festival.

Devon's Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadet Corps and the Royal Marine Volunteer Cadet Corps, as well as the county's schools' Combined Cadet Forces, will all be well represented.

A coach will leave Fore Street, Okehampton, at 5pm on the day to take attendees to Torquay to avoid car parking difficulties and charges.

The coach fare will be £2 for legion members and £7 for non-members.

Anyone who would like to use this facility can sign up on the list posted on the club notice board at the Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion on Station Road.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 7pm at the Princess Theatre in Torquay.

Tickets cost £8 and can be ordered at the theatre booking office.
