THE Sunday Lunch, held in the Victory Hall by the Northlew Allotment Association was very popular and everyone enjoyed it.

The buffet meal was served on tables decorated with green flower-pots containing growing plants and the waitresses wore their wellies.

The lunch was held to raise funds for the fairly recently formed allotment association, for things such as piped water and a hard surface entrance to the field - £280 was the approximate amount made and the association thank all who supported the event.

MATINS, at the parish church, was conducted by Dr Marilyn Livingstone. The lessons were read by Malcolm James and Betty Dibben and sidesman was Marj Rundle.

Evening prayer was conducted by Mrs P Durston, the sidesman being Dr Livingstone. The organist on both occasions was Derek Chivers.

There will be a steak pie lunch, for church funds, on March 6, in the Victory Hall. Tickets from PCC members.

A MEETING of the Methodist Sunday School teachers recently decided that the children would learn to help others by organising some events themselves.

Tracey felt the first such event could raise money for the Pathfield School, for children with special needs. This school is where George Davey Jnr attends, which was the reason for choosing this particular cause.

A 'soup, rolls and cake' evening attracted a large number of people to the Methodist Hall and the kitchen was kept busy providing refreshments and drinks, all waitress service.

The bring and buy cake stalls were well patronised as were the competitions and the children were kept happy making Valentine cards. Those helping were Ezmie Bolt, Zoe and Bathany Short, Dorothy Cole, Betty and Tracey Spry, Elaine Peak, Winifred Davey, Angi Short, Nicola Richards, Melanie Davey and Brenda Curtis. George's mum, Nicola, brought along a display of work of Pathfield.

Thanks were given by the Rev John Peak, to all who donated goods or helped in any way. The amount raised was £334.60. Other events to help children and families will follow.

THE chapel family worship was conducted by Mrs Elaine Peak, and Miss Brenda Curtis. The theme was 'Love', based on the teachings of Jesus. Mrs C Carrier read the lessons and refreshments were served after the service.
