THERE will be a Service of the Word at St Andrew's Church on Sunday, September 5 at 9.30am, to be led by Marian Barnes from Chagford.

THE next whist drive at Sampford Courtenay village hall is on Monday, September 6 at 7.30pm for 8.00pm.

THE Devon Historic Churches Day, incorporating the Ride + Stride and organised by the Devon Historic Churches Trust, is on Saturday, September 11.

Pam Clayton and Sara Hanks will be taking part, visiting as many churches as they can on the day and raising money by sponsorship in the process, which will be divided equally between St Andrew's Church and the trust itself, which helps fund urgent repairs to all places of worship, regardless of denomination. SAMPFORD Courtenay Flower Club will meet in the church rooms on Monday, September 13 at 7.30pm, when plantsman Alan French will talk about and sell his plants.
