Clyst St Mary v Chagford

CLYST were indebted to all rounders Chris Cook and former Bovey Tracey Tim Dowler for their narrow win at Chagford in this bottom of the table clash.

Chagford put into bat on the soft wicket and slow outfield looked in no trouble against the Clyst attack and openers Gary Sizmur and Arnie Searle  put on 60 for the first wicket before Sizmur was out for 16.

Arnie Searle was next to go at 89-2 and Chagford looked in command.  However the introduction of slow bowlers Chris Cook and Tim Dowler, changed the game, as with the departure of Billy Searle at 103-3, the Chagford wickets tumbled with the last eight batsmen making just 16 runs between them, and the home side were all out for a disappointing 116.   Cook taking 4 -27 and Dowler the astonishing figures of 5-6 in 6.2 overs.

In reply Clyst lost Liam Cook in Billy Searle"s first over, but Billy then had to retire from the attack with a side strain.

Clyst's wickets fell at regular intervals, and when Jerry Christophers picked up three wickets in one over a Chagford win looked on the cards.

Chris Cook had stood firm but with the score at 93-8 Dowler joined Cook and inched their way to victory by two wickets.  Cook finished on 59 not out, Dowler 12 not out and Ferro was the only other player to reach double figures with 15 although extras of 21 contributed to the Chagford defeat.

Del Lammonby 3-34 and Jerry Christophers 4-40 were the main wicket takers for Chagford.
