North Tawton Town Council will approach shop owners to ask whether they would place posters in their windows reminding drivers to turn their engines off.

The move comes following growing concerns over the number of vehicles in the Square that are left running when drivers pull over to wait or complete a quick errand. At a recent town council meeting, councillors voiced concerns over the environmental impact this would have on the current climate crisis.

Cllr Christian Martin said: ‘My understanding is that the town has declared a climate emergency – this is a gentle reminder.’
