THE Methodist Church had lovely weather for the Sunday school anniversary , to celebrate work with young people within the church. The chapel was decorated with flowers and many people bought various arts and crafts, photography, trophies etc.

The Rev John Peak led the service, Elaine Peak and Brenda Curtis leading the anniversary programme which included a sketch on 'The parable of the fruit trees' . Lessons were read by Marion Dufty and Tracey Spry.

On Monday evening the Rev Nigel Coke- Woods chaired a wonderful concert given by the Unity Gospel singers. The celebration ended with a faith supper, convened by Mrs O Yelland and Mrs J Friend and helpers. Proceeds of the weekend amounted to £220, half of which will be given to John Peak in sponsorship money for his 160-mile walk from Land's End to Northlew. The money donated is for the Karibuni Trust and half for the work with the youngsters within the Methodist church.

CELEBRANT at parish communion was the Rev Ruth Hansford. The organist  Mr D Chivers, played music by Lemmens, Dubois and Handel and during communion , the choir sang ' And now, O Father, Mindful of thy love' by Monk. The lesson was read by Dr M Livingstone and the duty sidesman was Mr M James.

The evening service was at Ashbury Church and was conducted by the Rev Nigel Coke- woods. The lessons were read by Mrs S Collier and Miss B Curtis, D Chivers played the harmonium and Grant and Philippa Mansfield played flute and guitar to accompany the hymns.

It had been hoped to walk from the village to Ashbury before having a picnic and games prior to the service, but the rain stopped all but a few hardy types joining the effort. Refreshments were served by Mrs T Hannaford and Mrs E Chivers.

NORTHLEW Toddlers' Group will be holding a car boot sale in Northlew on Saturday. June 29.
