PUPILS from Shebbear College, set off to the sun drenched island of Barbados for their bi-annual cricket and netball tour.

All the teams involved (U14 and senior cricket; U15 and senior netball) competed extremely well throughout the trip, facing tough opposition from both clubs and schools from across the island. The girls' U15s netball side came away with two impressive victories against St Bede's school and St Barnabus.

The pupils also experienced many of the wider cultural aspects of the island life, including a round the island tour, catamaran cruise, swimming with turtles and a visit to the open air seafood restaurants at Oistins.

Awards went to India Martin as player of the tour and Ellen Chamberlain, most improved. For the cricket top run scorer was Andy Collier and Matt Davey most improved.
