THE Okehampton fundraisers for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund held a quiz at the White Hart Inn on June 27 to raise funds for the charity.
Graham Roe, local ELF organiser said: 'The evening went very well. We don't know exactly how much was raised, but those at the White Hart have been kind enough to donate the proceedings from the last two quizzes to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.'
The quiz was won by regular quizzers 'Three Short Planks', despite the handicap of not being allowed to use their joker card and only having three players instead of four. 'Team Reynolds' came second, and the inappropriately named 'No Idea' came in third.
ELF also held a charity clay pigeon shoot at Burden Farm on June 25. Graham was pleased with how it turned out: 'The clay pigeon shoot also went really well. After the cost of the day, which was cartridges and everything else, we managed to raise £389 for ELF, which was great. It was a really enjoyable shoot, too.
'John Barton, who owns the farm, was allowed out of hospital, which was great, and it helped raise a lot of money for the charity.'
ELF's next big fundraiser is their fun dog show, which takes place on Saturday July 16, also at Burden Farm.
The day starts with dog jumping at 11am, entries from 10am. There are three age classes for people showing their dogs, and the return of the jumping challenge, where fences are raised to 2ft 3ins. New for this year of the competition is the pairs relay.
At 1pm, the family fun dog show begins, with entries from 11am. Open to all, there are a total of 16 classes with three new classes - best trick, friendliest dog and most unenthusiastic dog.
Each winner will receive a photograph portrait taken by Farlap Photography. These classes will be judged by Bryony Herrod-Taylor, of North Park Vets.
