AT Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday, in lovely, hot, summer weather, and greens in superb condition, players took part in the 36 hole Club Championship.

After battling it out in draining conditions there was a tie between Gareth Holt who scored a gross 74 + 73 = 147, and Del Owen who scored a gross 70 + 77 = 147. These two will play off next week over 18 holes for the title of 2010 club champion. In third place was Greg Holman with a combined 149. Fourth place was taken by Jonny Rattenbury with a 151 from Malcolm Hooper, who also had a 151 but had a poorer back 18.

Winner of the Hutchings Cup for the best 36 hole handicap score was Rob Simpson with a net 63 + 69 = 132;. second was Del Owen on a net 63 + 70 = 133.

The winner of the Leonard Tankard for the best two rounds from a player over the age of 55 was Barry Hodges who scored a gross 81 + 83 = 164.

A three ball, two to count competition was run in the gap between the two rounds of the main competition and the winners were Barry Coaker, Arnie Searle and Kevin Cornwall with 75 points; second were Pete Okopski, Bob Barrett and Keith Lee with 73pts.
