Okehampton Hockey A 4
Taunton Civil Service B 2
THE away side started well and took the game to Okehampton and gave the home side a real scare when the visitors went 1-0 up in the opening minutes and then 2-0 just moments later from a short corner.
After a slow start, Okehampton finally managed to get into the game and pulled a goal back through Stuart Jarvis. The home side were now in complete control but they had to wait until the second half before man of the match John Cross popped up in the right place to equalise from a deflected Okehampton short corner.
A Chris Searle brace left the scores 4-2 to the home side. Okehampton could have gone further ahead with Brett Lawson unlucky only to hit the crossbar and only some last ditch Taunton defending stopped Cross from getting a hat-trick.
Civil Service did have spells of possession but the defence of Ian Miller, Dave Dennis and John Yells limited the away side to a couple of tame shots which were easily saved. Overall this was a good battling performance from the young Okehampton side after going 2-0 down.
