AFTER being promoted to division five of the Exeter Tennis League Okehampton Men`s B team had a difficult start to the season struggling with player availability and constantly trying different combinations of players.
Consequently they lost four of their first six matches and relegation was a real threat.
However, with core players John Jarvis, Paul Love and Stuart Jarvis finding their form they transformed their season by winning five and drawing one of their last matches to finish in third place in the league.
It was often difficult to find a fourth player and thanks go to Matt King, Adam Richards, David Naylor and David Carter who stepped in at short notice to gain valuable points.
John Jarvis, for the club, said: 'It was encouraging for the future of the club that juniors Tom Pearce and Sam Whalley were also able to step up to the mark and enjoy their tennis when asked to play for the B team.'
