OKEHAMPTON Ladies Tennis team made a good start to the season beating Ottery St Mary 7-3 in their opening match.
Both Okehampton couples played well in evenly matched encounters which provided exciting tennis with long rallies.
Beth Carter and Jackie Jarvis had two, three set matches, winning one in the championship tiebreak and losing the other in the same way.
The new pairing of Angela Herrod-Taylor and Joanna Thompson worked well with Joanna playoing some excellent tennis in her first ladies match. The pair won 7-6, 6-3 and 6-4, 7-5. Okehampton ladies play today at home against Tunnels.
