Lions Clubs Youth South West Cup

Wessex Youth U14s 0

Oke Argyle U14s 4

OKEHAMPTON travelled to Somerset for this cup semi final which started off at a frantic pace. However, it was Okehampton that settled down the quicker and their nerves were steadied by a fine goal from Ross Voaden after 15 minutes. He picked up the ball just inside the Wessex area, turning his marker before firing a fine shot to the top left hand corner.

Argyle then dominated the mid part of the first half creating several chances although there were no clear cut opportunities. Wessex then came back as Okehampton seemed to lose their way, although the Argyle defence of Gross, Taylor and Stanbury remained solid with keeper, Dearing, having little to do.

The second half began with Wessex having the advantage and pressing, but again great defence kept them at bay.

Argyle doubled their lead midway through the half; some great team play down the left from Goodwin, created space for Voaden to get his cross in and the ball broke to Tom Stanbury who calmly side footed home.

Four minutes later it was Burns who was the beneficiary to bury the ball in the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Okehampton then made several substitutes, and it was Liam Mitchell who completed the scoring, latching on to a through ball and travelling 30 yards unchallenged before burying the chance with the outside of his right foot.

This comprehensive victory to the South West final was thoroughly earned by the Argyle squad.
