South East division two

ISCA C 3

Okehampton 5

OKEHAMPTON travelled to Exeter University knowing that a win was the only possible result to keep their hopes of winning the league alive. The game started quickly as Okehampton failed to get used to the bouncy surface the hosts took full advantage when they won a short corner, the centre forward drag flicking the ball into the roof of the net beyond a helpless Andy Harvey.

The game was slipping away in the opening 20 minutes as the home side were in complete control. However, a moment of inspiration from midfielder Greg Williams, who ran into the area to hit an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

Andy Harvey for the visitors then produced a superb double diving save to stop ISCA taking a second lead. This pressure was to be short lived as the away side counter attacked with real pace; Joff Stephens and then Brett Lawson found Mark Parsons, who slotted in. Okehampton started to enjoy some possession and produced the move of the season as they passed the ball out of defence; Williams found Nick Luxton, who then passed to Chris Luxton whose diagonal ball found Simon Bourne, who crossed early for Parsons to sweep home.

The second half started fast and it was the hosts who threatened to pull a goal back as they force two more good saves out of Harvey. Parsons then converted a short corner as Okehampton took their chance before the hosts scrambled a second to get back in the game. The home side tried desperately to get back but it was Bourne, who playing a one-two before led to Chris Luxton finishing with ease.

The home side finished with a consolation goal with only minutes remaining and Okehampton sat back and saw the game out to win comfortable and go upto second in the table.
