OKEHAMPTON hosted fourth place Mid Somerset knowing a point would secure a successive league title and continue their clubs improving reputation.

They started brightly and took the game to the visitors and eventually took the lead when a reverse shot from skipper Mark Parsons was turned into the goal by James Rogers.

Oke broke away and Andy Paterson found Parsons who passed it into the goal to double the opponents lead.

The hosts continued to press forward but also defended resolutely with Luke Liversidge and John Jarvis outstanding.

After the interval Okehampton come out slowly and let the away side back into the game through some sloppy play which the visitors exploited.

Mid Somerset tried to seize the control but pushed too many players forward and Oke broke emphatically. Chris Luxton for Oke did superbly to stop the ball going out and found Brett Lawson. who played the ball through for Parsons; he returned the ball to the unmarked Lawson who rounded the keeper and fired the ball home.

The away side did not get down heartened and came back fighting and took advantage after Andy Harvey made a stunning save only for the rebound to be turned home.

Okehampton thought they were cruising when Greg Williams won a penalty flick and Nick Luxton composed himself to dispatch the ball into the corner to extend their lead.

Oke got their fifth with another well worked short corner, Parsons firing the ball straight to Williams who had the simple task of touching the ball in. Okehampton were then rocked when the superb Jarvis had to go off injured.

The visitors pulled one back and the hosts were now hanging on.

Oke's Mark Bingham put his body on the line to prevent a goal, but giving away a penalty flick in the process which the visitors scored to equalise.

With only seconds remaining the home side kept the ball and won their second league title in their second season - an amazing achievement for a club.
