TO mark the one year anniversary of Percy the cat’s residency at Okehampton Station, staff are hosting the purr-fect fundraiser to support the charity that saved his life.

This time last year Percy was found wandering the streets in poor health. He was found by Mitzi’s Kitty Corner — a cats rescue centre who helped Percy get back on his paws.

Since his recovery, Percy has been residing at Okehampton Station where he is fed, groomed and cared for by staff.

Percy is popular with regular rail commuters living in the town and even has his own Facebook page that has over 600 likes.

In celebration of his one year anniversary, staff from Dartmoor Railway are holding a fundraiser on Sunday, August 6 at Okehampton Station from 11am until 4pm.

The fundraiser will include a BBQ, quiz and raffle.

Visitors will also get the chance to purchase some specially-made Percy merchandise, including postcards and T shirts.

All money raised from the event will be donated to Mitzi’s Kitty Corner — the charity that works tirelessly to help abandoned cats.

Tiffany Arthurs general manager, said: ‘Percy has been with us for a whole year. We all couldn’t imagine him not being a part of our team and adore him. He has settled into railway life and brought joy to all of his fans who come from afar just to meet him.

‘Percy was a rescue cat, found in a very poor state by Mitzi’s cat rescue who looked after him until he came to live with us. To show our appreciation we are celebrating Percy’s one-year anniversary by raising money for the charity.’
