YOUNGSTERS of Okehampton, practise your best royal wave — the Okehampton Carnival Committee is on the lookout for this year's carnival royalty. Boys and girls can now enter the prince and princess competition for the 2014 carnival. Couples must be between five and eleven years old on October 18, the day of the carnival. Carnival queen entries are also requested. Entrants should be 12 or over on carnival day. Entries for both competitions should be handed into Beanfeast in the Arcade. Alternatively you can send entries to Karen Penna, 19 Wonnacotts Road, Okehampton, EX20 1LX. All entrants must give a name, age, address and contact telephone number. Parents must indicate consent by signing the entry for any child under 16. The closing date for entries is Saturday, May 31. A trailer is available for both royalty floats, and the committee is happy to offer any advice regarding the construction of a float.
