THE latest in a series of guided walks exploring the hidden corners and unusual features of Belstone parish takes place on Sunday, May 26.

The Secrets of Belstone Tor walk leaves Belstone Village Hall at 1.30pm returning by 4pm for cream teas.

Walk leader Chris Walpole said: 'You'd be surprised what the granite workers of old left behind on the moor — there are well-preserved examples of millstones, troughs, rollers and cider presses all within a fairly small area of Belstone Tor.

'We'll find as many of these artefacts as we can and also discuss how the granite was cut and transported back to the village.'

Walking boots are required and dogs must be kept under close control or on a lead near livestock.

Donations will be accepted for hall funds, suggest donation £2 for the walk, £5 to include cream tea.
