Okehampton Running Club members competed in the Bideford 10K. Under blue skies with light cloud and a cooling wind 586 runners left the Quay in Bideford to run north to Instow.

At this half way mark the course was directed back along the river Torridge along the Tarka Trail. First man home was Bideford AAC's Steve Gallienne in 32mins 51secs and first lady home was Vicky Pincombe 36.24.

First ORC member home was Roger Voaden in 36.38 and first in the male veteran 45 category. Karen Skye was first club female home and third female vet 35 in 40.51. Also receiving trophies were Jane Jackson and Marilyn Cooper rewarded for their first and third positions in the female vet 55 category in 47.42 and 50.23 respectively.

Many of the club's runners completed the race in personal best times. Also achieving excellent times and enjoying another well organised Bideford ACC event were: Bryan Friend 40.29, Dave Mugliston 41.26, Kirstin Phippard 44.01, Alastair Watt 44.30, Lucy Skye 45.20, Jane Jones 52.40, Chris Hancock 53.31, Katy Speak 53.45, Carole Cornwall 58.25, Emma-Lisa Cunnington 59.02, Rachel Baker 59.08, Rachael O'Dell 1.05.48, Debbie Bryant 1.09.16 and Tracey Webber 1.09.16. ORC 's senior ladies were third in the team event.

ORC's Mervyn Rice was among the 190 runners also enjoying the fine weather on May 15 competing in St Austell Running Club's Boconnoc race near Lostwithiel. He finished this undulating five mile multi-terrain course within the beautiful Boconnoc estate in 39.44.
