RESIDENTS from in and around Okehampton took part in a fun ride to celebrate National Transplant Week.
Around 28 people participated in the ride, which started from Okehampton Station and went along the Granite Way to the Bearslake Inn, where riders stopped for lunch.
Organiser and transplant patient Wendy Sincock from Spreyton, said both old and young took part.
She said: 'It was a fantastic event and I couldn't believe how many people actually turned up.
'The youngest rider was seven and the oldest was 68, so it was really nice to have all ages there.
'The weather was perfect, a bit sunny and cloudy with a nice breeze for the hills and we had the help of a trailer to pick up the bikes.
'The ride wasn't a fundraiser, but one of the ladies did raise £100, which is great and will go towards the Exeter Kidney Unit.'
Wendy, who is celebrating 12 years this October since her transplant, expressed thanks to everyone who took part in the ride.
She added: 'It's nice to promote organ donation — I wouldn't be here without it.
'I do something every year and it's my way of saying thank you and giving something back.'
Wendy will be arranging a Hallowe'en disco to celebrate the 12 years since her transplant.
The disco and buffet will be held on Saturday, October 30 in Spreyton Village Hall.
All proceeds will be split between the village hall and the Exeter Kidney Unit.
