A RECYCLING project group has been set up in North Tawton, to collect plastics that West Devon Borough Council cannot pick up in their kerbside collections.

The collection started on Saturday, November 21 and will run on every third Saturday of the month from 10am-12.30pm. Bins will be located in the car park of The Square.

The bins will be manned to ensure that the correct types of plastic are put into each bin. People have also been encouraged to bring their recycling on foot.

All containers need to be clean for recycling –items that can be accepted include: margarine, spread and ice cream tubs, cream, yoghurt and cottage cheese pots, sandwich containers, salad pots, fruit and vegetable trays, meat and fish trays, biscuit and chocolate box trays, CDs and cases, plastic flower pots, large food containers up to bucket size, bubble wrap (this is the only exception in soft plastic that can be accepted).

Items that cannot be accepted include: milk and other bottles (these can be included in kerbside collections), polystyrene, cling film, biodegradable plastic, paint pots, pet food or soft drink pouches, crisp and biscuit packets and other soft plastic packaging.
