A MONTHLY play reading group for people in Okehampton has been set up for an initial six month period.
The group, run by Time for Life with funding from Okehampton United Charity, recently held its second meeting with six people reading 'Cider with Rosie' by Laurie Lee, adapted for the stage by James Roose-Evans.
Among those in attendance were Claire Harieades of Age Concern Home Support Befriending Service and one of the service's new befriending volunteers.
One of the many aspects of both Age Concern Okehampton and Time for Life is creating opportunities for people to build and develop friendships.
Okehampton United Charity is supporting the sessions with this aim in mind.
Anyone wishing to join the group is most welcome.
The group is also looking to share the play readings with an audience, so anyone who would like the group to share a reading with them can get in touch with Jenny Beavon at [email protected]">[email protected] for more information.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 7 at the Glen on Castle Road, time to be confirmed.
The group will be reading Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas.
The play for June is Noel Coward's Still Life, on which the film Brief Encounter was based.
