A WEST Devon drama group is among a number of projects set to benefit from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All programme this month.
The Courtenay Players, based in Okehampton, received a grant of £9,571 to help fund new sound equipment and lighting for future productions.
Secretary Stan Stormont, said: 'We are just so lucky to get all of the money we asked for.
'We found out before Christmas, but it wasn't released from the National Lottery until now.
'We are very happy to have this grant which will not only help us in future productions, it will also help other organisations within the town, which is half the reason we applied.
'The money will make a huge difference to everybody. We are going to buy some lighting and sound equipment, which will be used in the Charter Hall.'
Mr Stormont said the the new equipment would mean big savings for the group.
He said: 'Every time we put on a large performance we will save over £2,000, because we would normally have to hire the lighting and sound equipment.'
Mr Stormont said the Players were currently rehearsing their production of Aladdin in February — and that tickets could now be sold at a reduced rate.
'We are also going to get a new set of curtains,' he said.
Big Lottery Fund head of the South West region, Mark Cotton, said: 'It's wonderful to see so many groups benefiting from more than £300, 000 in grants this month. Each project is contributing to our society in a remarkable way and we are proud to be able to support them.
'Now is a great time to apply for funding for not only environmental projects, but a whole range of ideas. I look forward to seeing more interesting projects throughout the year.'
The Courtenay Players, who have been in existence since the 1950s, are looking for new members aged from eight years to 108. Annual membership costs £12 for anyone aged 18 and over and £6 for anyone up to the age of 18. For more information phone Stan Stormont on 07880 537946.
Aladdin will be staged on Monday, February 22 through to Saturday, February 27 from 7.30pm in the Charter Hall. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for under 14s and will be available from Fairplace Church shop in the arcade from Monday, February 8.
