FINGERS are crossed for better weather this week as one of Okehampton's major fundraising events is set to take place after being postponed earlier in the month.

The annual Okehampton and District Lions Club Charity Golf Day, in aid of Children's Hospice South West, was due to take place on Friday, September 5 at Okehampton Golf Club but had to be postponed due to the waterlogged state of the course.

The event will now take place on Tuesday, September 23 at the golf club.

The winner of the Grand Draw, held in conjunction with the Golf Day, was Gemma Prowse of Okehampton who scooped the £100 first prize.
