I AM writing to express my anger at the news that the computer training suite at the Ockment Centre is to close.

I have used the facility personally and found the trainer, Geoff, to be professional, extremely helpful and very patient with the trainees.

The training centre is used by people of all ages and has been very effective in helping people made redundant in the area over the past 18 months.

Okehampton has suffered significantly during the recession and several of the larger employers have closed. The computer training suite has helped a number of those affected to improve their skills and write CVs etc, this has resulted in many gaining employment.

The closure of the training centre is therefore very detrimental to the town of Okehampton and short-sighted as many of those who could be helped into employment in the future will remain unemployed.

I hope this decision will be reconsidered.
