THERE will be lots of fun at Castle Drogo this week, from following a nature trail to building a home for nature.

Visitor services assistant April Braund said: 'Castle Drogo and the surrounding 700 acre estate is the perfect place to explore, get muddy, jump in a puddle and build a den.'

Everyday, until Sunday, February 22, from 11am to 4pm, families can follow a nature trail through the grounds to discover more about the wildlife that lives around the castle.

The trail costs £1.50 and includes a prize at the end.

Families can also become part of a 'Wild Tribe' by taking part in activities with the Dartmoor Ranger team.

On Saturday, February 21, 11am to 3pm, they can test out survival skills with a fire lighting master class — booking is essential via the Castle Drogo website, adult £6, child £4.

The castle itself will be closed over half-term as staff and volunteers prepare for the next phase of the building project to make the castle watertight.

It will re-open on Monday, March 9 with brand new artistic installations to bring to life the castle's stories and show its collection in a whole new way.
