BOOKS of poems written by local primary school children about their grandparents will be launched at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton this Saturday, October 2.

Fourteen primary schools in the EX20 area have been working with the Senior Council for Devon, composing and publishing the poems in booklet form, and all pupils, parents and grandparents are invited to attend the launch at 10am.

The books will be on sale and at all 14 schools and all money raised will go to Children In Need.

Some of the poems will be read out at the event and certificates presented to the schools who took part.

The mayor and mayoress of West Devon and the mayor of Okehampton are expected to attend.
