BY popular demand, Devon's largest freshwater outdoor swimming pool is adding an extra 'quiet lengths' session for serious swimmers. Up until now, Chagford Pool has held one quiet lengths session every weekday from 6pm to 7pm. The success of the session has encouraged the pool committee to open an hour early on Mondays to Thursdays to provide the extra session from 1pm to 2pm before the pool opens to all comers. The pool recently received a boost after West Devon Borough Council donated £3,000 towards the cost of a special liner which will help keep the pool clean and safe for swimmers. The whole project has cost around £28,000 with contributions coming from Devon County Council, local fund-raising, Chagford Recreational Trust and many others. The Chagford Swimming Pool committee was paying more than £5,000 every few years to get the pool shell repainted but the new liner is expected to last for up to 20 years.  For full details of opening hours and admission prices visit http://www.chagfordpool.co.uk">www.chagfordpool.co.uk
