PARENTS looking for support and help with family and relationship issues can attend one of a series of sessions aiming to provide help for people in the Okehampton area.

Working in partnership with the Okehampton Learning Community, not-for-profit company Community Lynx SW CIC has organised a series of 'parent pop-up' sessions, aiming to allow parents to share their issues and concerns with a family practitioner.

Parents can find out about parenting strategies and child development, with the intention that they go away with an improved understanding of why children behave in certain ways, and what parents can do to help them and themselves.

There will be a number of other practitioners at these sessions, who will also be available to listen to parents' concerns and share their experience and knowledge and talk about a child's learning, emotional wellbeing and behaviour.

Organisations which will be at some of the sessions sessions in the programme include Citizens' Advice Bureau, Devon Parent Partnership, Public Health Nursing, Children's Centre, Cerebra and Tor Support Services.

This provides unique access to access a number of services that would otherwise require an appointment.

Last week's session in All Saints' Church Hall on Market Street featured a member of the communication and interaction team who helps children with autistic spectrum condition and who talked about a child's learning, emotional wellbeing and behaviour.

Future sessions are: Monday, February 10, Bridestowe Village Hall, 9am to 11am.

Tuesday March 18, Hatherleigh Community Centre, 1pm to 3pm.

Friday, May 16, All Saints Church Hall in Okehampton, 9am to 11am.

Tuesday, July 8, Endecott House, Chagford, 9.30am to 11.30am.
