ELEVEN trophies were presented to members of Okehampton Young Farmers' Club at its 67th anniversary dinner last weekend.
The Perpetual Challenge Cup presented by Mr and Mrs P Sworn for the Okehampton Club member gaining the highest number of points at the group rally, held at Okehampton Show, was won by James Heard.
The Okehampton YFC Perpetual Show Cup presented by Mr and Mrs P Tapp for the girl with the most points was won by Louisa Gee.
The Perpetual Challenge Cup presented by Mr K A Stevens — the father of the current president who was a founder member of the club —for the boy gaining the highest points in the young farmers section of the Okehampton Show went to James Heard. The club sheep cup went to Darcy Heard.
Okehampton YFC girls over 18 with most points throughout the year was won by past secretary Catherine Allen.
The boys cup went to current treasurer John Maile.
The Roy Wadman Memorial Cup for the member under 18 who has contributed the most during the past year went to Emily Sizmur. The cup for the over 18 member who has contributed most went to Becky Howe who has arranged social functions, worked hard on the club cubicle at the Devon County Show and group rally and has taken taken on the role of secretary.
The member of the year trophy was won by Graham Francis who did a lot of work on the carnival float last year, took part in various competitions, attended meetings regularly and is now vice chairman of the club.
A new trophy given by the club's tug of war team went to Pullers team member Darcy Heard and the tug of war team member of the year went to Matt Johns.
The club also won a shield for this year's carnival float from South Zeal and Okehampton carnivals for their 'Rugby World Cup' entry in the topical section.
