Chard Town 0

SOUTH Zeal having lifted themselves out of the bottom three with five wins in six games continued their good form with one of the best performances of the season.

It was a great defensive and counter-attacking performance in the first half that won the game for Zeal as the back three restricted the home forwards to shots from the edge of the box.

A|fter 15 minutes Harley Cann put Zeal ahead when he latched onto a through ball from Tom Reilly and coolly chipped the Chard keeper.

With Darren Gilbert and Redd Cann supporting Harley from mid-field a second goal was always on the cards and it came five minutes before half time when Harley robbed one of the Chard centre backs and was then duly brought down by the home sides keeper who was sent off. Scott Hooper went three of three from the spot to put Zeal two up at half time.

Although Chard went at Zeal in the second half the visitors were always comfortable and extended their lead to 3-0 when a great ball from Dan Wakeham was converted by Ben Davey at the far post to complete a very good performance.

On Wednesday South Zeal beat Kintisbeare 3-1 at home with goals from Redd Cann, Darren Gilbert and Tom Reilly and a slightly jaded team lost 3-1 to Colyton on Saturday after playing four games in eight days.
