FIVE Okehampton pubs will be united through friendly competition this month in the build-up to a special family fun day on April 28.

The King's Arms, the Plymouth Inn, the White Hart, the London Inn and the Pretoria Vaults are gearing up to take part in the St George's Challenge.

Teams of six members from each pub will compete in skittles, pool, darts, cribbage and a quiz throughout the month, with the challenge culminating in a tug of war competition at a family fun day in Simmons Park on Sunday, April 28.

The event has been organised by Lisa Wadling, the town's new promotion manager.

Anyone wishing to take part can drop into their local and ask about the challenge.
