YOUNG rugby players from?Okehampton U12s players put in a gruelling rowing session on Saturday to raise funds for their club tour.

They exercised continuously on a rowing machine outside Martins' Butchers in?School Way.

Jackie Stevens, on behalf of the team, said: 'Many thanks to all those who so generously supported the ORFC U12s team who completed their row of 50 miles in eight hours. 

'It was all the more challenging due to the snow and extremely cold conditions, but it made them all the more determined to succeed.'

Money raised from selling cakes and hot drinks on the day together with donations totalled £488.51.
