PUPILS from Okehampton Primary debated issues affecting townspeople around the town council's chamber table as part of a special visit to the town hall last week.

Children from the school's own 'School Council' visited the town council chambers in the town hall to meet town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies.

The mayor spoke to the youngsters about the working of the council, and the centuries of history surrounding the town hall and council itself.

Youngsters even got to go through their own council agenda, discussing issues like dog fouling, Simmons Park's play equipment, the town's old mill site and the train station.
