OKEHAMPTON Acoustic Club will hold its first meeting of 2013 this weekend, promising another evening of quality music.
Featured guests for the session on Saturday January 12 include Josie Lloyd, 4/2 the Bar, and Hannah and the Madding Crowd.
Josie Lloyd plays blues and ragtime from the 1900s and her own songs, performed on an original national steel resophonic guitar.
This month sees the return of 4/2 the Bar, a three-piece with guitar, vocals, saxophone and bass from Okehampton. Their music is a blend of R&B, jazz and more.
Hannah and the Madding Crowd have been performing on the festival circuit since 1996 with their distinctive indie folk material, and have supported artists such as Martyn Carthy and Julie Felix.
Club founder Phil Bird will be performing songs from his new EP Four Moor Songs, including Tales of Tinners, Meldon Quarry, and other songs inspired by Dartmoor. Since 1997, Phil has released five CDs and played at many festivals, including Glastonbury and Greenbelt.
The sessions starts at the Ockment Centre on January 12 at 7.30pm. Entry costs £2.50 each, and guests can bring their own refreshments.
