A CHARITY quiz night in Belstone last Friday will benefit babies in Okehampton, having raised a bumper £258 for the Okehampton Maternity Unit.

Teams of four packed out The Tors pub for the quiz challenge, with team entry and raffle money quickly filling the coffers.

Quizmaster Sue Wonnacott said: 'The pub was absolutely heaving. It was something of a manic night, but wonderful to have so many people there taking part and enjoying themselves.

'I wrote all the quiz questions and was busy on the night, so I am shattered now. But it has all been worth it to raise so much for the maternity unit.'

The night was held as a 'thank- you' to the maternity unit after providing exemplary care for four local women, Helen Penna, Kelly Cooper, Laura James and Sarah Kingdom.

Organisers have expressed thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes, took part on the night or helped in any way.
