Dawlish Utd 4

OKEHAMPTON seconds came into this game on the back of two poor results in as many weeks to get their promotion hopes back on track.

On a heavy pitch Argyle started off the brighter of the two sides with Darren Prouse and Sam Appleby causing the Dawlish defence some problems by running at them at pace.

The first chance came when Ted Squires made a great run into the area and tapped the ball to Darren Prouse, who forced a great save from the keeper.

Argyle's pressure finally paid off when a Daniel Gibbs through ball found Sam Appleby who slotted calmly into the bottom corner of the net.

Dawlish then upped their game and got back into it when a deflected shot and a mix up in the Argyle defence left the striker with an easy finish.

The second half started in a much similar fashion to the first and the home side soon took the lead again when Argyle's man of the match Rick Drew's inswinging corner was punched into his own net by the Dawlish keeper.

Dawlish again got right back into the game through a corner of their own when some hesitation left one of their players to easily head home.

Soon after Argyle again took the lead — some great interlinking play between Chris Hollands, Shame Monnox and Darren Prouse resulted in Sam Appleby scoring a simple tap in for his second of the game.

Dawlish came back once more having a shot cleared off the line before a rasping free kick could only be parried by Argyle keeper Lewis Challen into the path of the on-coming striker who slotted home.

The visitors went ahead for the first time in the game when their striker went through the Argyle defence and sent his shot into the back of the net.

Argyle threw everything into the last minutes of the game with Rick Drew forcing a good save from the Dawlish keeper.

The game ended with yet more points being dropped at home seriously putting a dent into their third successive promotion hopes.
