THE Rogation Day service for the Benefice of Black Torrington will be held at Homelea Farm, Highampton, this Sunday, May 5, starting at 11.15am.
The guest speaker will be Andy Jerrard, lay pastoral support enabler. A bring and share lunch is planned after the service.
Sheila Grabham, churchwarden of St Mary's Church, Black Torrington, and of Homelea Farm, said: 'Rogation Sunday is an important occasion in our church and farming year. It is a time set aside for celebration and prayer to appreciate and recognise our dependency on farming and the land to produce our food and our dependency on God for the miracle of germination and crop growth.
'After the service there will be an opportunity to look at Homelea Farm's newly-installed robotic milking system which has dramatically improved the milk yield and well being of our cows.'
